Answers to selected questions posed by potential buyers of the LPL series
In this letter, we made an attempt to answer the questions of potential buyers and dealers (including abroad). To do this quiet accurately, we prepared an information sheet about the features of the LPL series lamps. We think that the views on LED lighting, the requirements for the technical characteristics of fixtures from our partners may vary slightly after this.
There are some frequently asked questions.
Does the specifications of the LPL fixtures actually fit the declared ones?
Our German partners carried out independent tests of LPL series fixtures in the German laboratory before deciding to cooperate,. The results were higher than those that were declared by us, because we have some reserve of technical characteristics. We are confident that the specifications of our fixtures are at least not worse, but most likely exceed the majority of leading manufacturers (we do not consider China as a competitor in the segment of high-quality professional lighting).
2. The weight of the lamp is 50% too hard.
Partly we can agree with this for a 60 W lamp. This body-radiator was developed for a line of fixtures with a power of 60 - 150 Watts. But during the test of the lamp 150 W the temperature on the LED crystal reached 78 °C at an external temperature of 25 °C. At higher outside temperatures, the LED will heat even more, which will lead to accelerated degradation. Therefore, we limited the maximum power to 130 Watts. Most competitors do not pay much attention to this.
Currently, the manufacturer of LED matrices in Seoul (Korea) has developed new LED matrices MJT that are 15% more efficient than the previous ones, including a 150 W matrix in one shell with specifications that are already guaranteed to be the most effective. With regard to the excessive weight of a 60W lamp, this is rather an advantage, not a disadvantage, because it is a big guarantee of efficient lighting, including work with elevated temperatures (the heating of the LED will be minimal, but the lower the temperature on the LED is, the more light flow and longer is its lifetime).
Reference: leading powerful producers, which are not limited in resources, allow themselves to develop for the each power of the lamps a separate shell (mold) in which all technical characteristics are calculated right to the borders and, as a rule, the reserve is minimal. It reduces weight, but it does not actually save money significantly.
3. The flat design is more aesthetic.
Aesthetic tastes differ. Many of our customers prefer our fixtures because of their shape. But the form should provide technical requirements. In a flat form there are too many technical defects, which impair the efficient operation of the lamp, as it is described in the newsletter.
When choosing a lamp of any manufacturer you need to ask a few questions and make clear the technical product level:
What is the area of the cooling surface of the radiator shell for 1 watts of power (for LPL-1-150 as the most loaded, this indicator is 43 cm2 for 1 watts, for LPL-1-60 -106.6 cm2 for 1 watts)
How much percentage of cooling area does a horizontal surface have (the bigger is the worse);
What is the thickness of the base of the radiator shell, to which the LED matrix is fastened (the thicker is the better)
What is the temperature difference between the hottest and coldest parts of the radiator. The smaller the difference - the more optimal design.
What kind of lighting fixtures: are there matrix or discrete (separate) diodes in LEDs. Also you should ask, who`s the manufacturer of diodes. For matrix, get know the method of fastening: is it a thermal conductive glue or a screws. As for power supplies: who`s the manufacturer, the series (economy, budget or professional level), location - in the shell or separately (in the shell there is a better opportunity to release heat), is ts filled with a heat conducting compound. About optics: is a better single lens of borosilicate glass rather than a RMM-plastic, which, when heated, may lose optical characteristics; does the lamp have additional protection from polycarbonate plastic (presence - minus 10% of the light flux).
4. Mode of energy saving (activation on the movement).
LPL series luminaires can be equipped with motion sensors, solar panels with energy storage, dimming or smart dimming drivers.
5. Model line.
Information about the model line can be found at https://ledprofline.com/en/product-catalog/. Now, we manufacture lamps for lighting streets, highways, settlements, enterprises, institutions and organizations (external) and industrial premises, trade, warehouse space and other objects (internal). The power is from 60 to 300 W. In the active process of development are the less powerful lights with a capacity of 20 - 60 watts. The term of development is first part of 2018.
6. Height of hanging.
The maximum hanging height on which the LPL-2-200 lamps are operated is 46 meters. For example, a commercial stage of 60x60 meters can be highlighted with 3 lamps from the roof of a nearby building. The installation of these fixtures allowed to organize a second working shift on a building object.
7. Warranty up to 10 years.
The warranty on fixtures with Mean Well power supplies for ELG series is 5 years, for HLG series is 7 years. We are confident in the quality and reliability of our fixtures, therefore we can provide a guarantee even for 10 years in some cases. The warranty coveres a reliable operation of the lamp during a certain period with loss of light flux not more than 5%.
8. The price is too high for Europe.
We own the prices in the market of Ukraine and Europe. Our prices are much lower compared to prices similar in quality, technical characteristics, complete set and other parameters of other serious manufacturers. We do not compare with Chinese manufacturers and manufacturers that are using Chinese components, because we have a different class of products (the level of technical characteristics, the complete set and the term of effective work).
9. New products.
The newsletter and 5th question of this letter outlines our plans for new products. As a rule, trade organizations have in their assortment products of different manufacturers of lower, middle and higher price levels with the appropriate quality and technical level. So far, we produce a narrow segment with a capacity of 60 - 300 Watts.
10. Lighting supports are galvanized.
Our company has made an agreement with the Ukrainian manufacturer of supports about mutual supply of products. Lighting supports can also be supplied from Poland. Contacts are well-established.
11. What is the cost of a lighting project?
The creation of the lighting project is free. The project includes calculation of the required lighting level according to the current standards (or according to the customer's specifications), the selection of the best lighting models, the 3D model of the object (performed in the program DIALux), the approximate cost of the project and the payback period of the investment. Lighting calculation clearly demonstrates the benefits of installing modern LED lamps of the type LPL.
12. Which is the best colour of the lighting of highways - white or yellow?
First of all, pay attention to the scale of color temperatures:

High-quality street LED illumination of highways increases the productivity of the visual apparatus and significantly affects the reduction of the number of accidents. It has been established that the total number of accidents can be reduced by 30%, and the number of accidents on roads of state importance and in areas of special danger (for example, at crossroads) - by 45%. For illumination of highways it is recommended to use fixtures with good colour transfer properties to emphasize contrasts and increase perception of information. Many studies have shown that white light has advantages over yellow. White light improves night vision by 40-100% in comparison to the lighting of another spectrum. The white light improves colour perception, which in turn improves the contrast of the image and the perception of the depth of space. Luminaire with low-quality colour has a narrow yellow spectrum and is suitable only for pedestrian crossings, seaports and security lighting.
13. Why do most manufacturers use discrete LEDs, not matrixes?
Optical modules on discrete (separate) LEDs are large in size and have significantly low specifications and operational reliability. Therefore, the requirements for the radiator shell are simplified. Lamps on LED matrices of LEDs require a high-quality radiator housing. When LEDs are installed on radiator cases, discrete models will overheat LEDs and cause their accelerated degradation. That`s why the most manufacturers can not use MAT matrixes for technical reasons.
14. Why do most manufacturers use discrete LEDs and not matrices?
Optical modules on discrete (separate) LEDs are large in size and have significantly lower technical characteristics and operational reliability. Under laboratory conditions, the effectiveness of СOB arrays reaches 250-270 Lm / W, while the maximum efficiency value of discrete LEDs does not exceed 185 Lm / W. Therefore, the requirements for the case-radiator are simplified. Luminaires on LED matrices COB require a high-quality housing-radiator. When installing COB LED arrays on radiator enclosures from discrete models, the LEDs will overheat and accelerate degradation. In this regard, most manufacturers cannot use COB matrices for technical reasons.
15. Do you have LPL IES-design files for design?
Yes, we do have developed IES files and we use it during creating the lighting projects.
16. What is the average payback period for investment in replacing ordinary lighting on an LED?
According to the calculations for implemented projects, the payback period of investments ranged from 1.5 to 3 years. Such terms depend on many factors. First and foremost, this is an economy of electricity consumption. LED fixtures consume an average of twice less electricity than sodium, and savings of equalization with other types of lamps can be up to 12 times. For example, industrial plants use lamps of 250 to 1000 watts. We recommend to replace them with LPL lamps from 60 to 100 W (in some cases up to 130 W). Moreover, at significantly lower electricity consumption, the company receives much better lighting. Approximately the same picture is in street lighting. Secondly, the savings are due to the life of the fixtures. Traditional mercury or sodium lamps are rarely three to five years old, and high-quality LED lights (including LPL) work effectively for at least 15 years.Thirdly, there are savings in operating costs - no need to involve additional equipment and human resources for frequent replacement of lamps.
17. Is there a dazzling effect in the fixtures of your production?
LPL series lamps are designed for comfortable and efficient lighting without a dazzle effect and negative impact on human health. When they were calculated, lenses with appropriate protective angles were selected according to the standards, and if necessary, lenses with an antibacterial effect were installed.
18. Can you make the highlighting for sport?
The specialists of our company have mastered the design and installation of LPL fixtures for various sports in accordance with all standards and requirements that provide optimal visual conditions for athletes, spectators and judges.
There are different classes and different lighting standards in every sport activity. The following classes of sports competitions are distinguished: I - competitions of the highest category; II - middle level competitions; III – school sport and leisure; IV - for conducting international and national TV broadcasting competitions.
